need some advice before making a move

will there be a difference when i upgrade from 2 6800 ultras pci-express sli....to a 7900GTX pci-express (just 1 card, no sli)

please need some advice by the end of today

just in case, my computer has:

amd x2 3800
2 gigs dual channel pc 3200 at 400 mhz
x-fi extreme music
seagate serial ata 80 gig hd
asus sli-deluxe motherboard
680 watt sli ready power supply
huge ass case, with plenty air flow and fans
dvd drive

I don't think there will be a big difference. The performance is probably going to be about the same.
I wouldn't spend my money on a 7900GTX if I already had 2x 6800 ultra.

ok i need to know why it still laggs then....for example on COD2 or FEAR.... i have everything on max, and still laggs....at 1280x1024 relolution

and my cards heat up to 78 c..

those darn 6800 ultras heat up too much

at idle there are 60-62

shouldn't 2 6800 ultras be enough to run on highest settings smoothly?

or maybe it's the monitor? maybe i need a monitor with straight DVI instead of a adapter....

Now my monitor isn't straight DVI connection i have to use adaptor could that cause lagg or slow down?

i mixed in 2 different brand ram, same timing and performance though, could the difference brand cause slow down?

Could it be that 650 watt power supply is not enough?

Maybe i need a better power outlet thing...those things were you can connect multiple power cables and stuff, maybe i need a better one?

could the processor or any other thing be bottlenecking?

please guys im gunna be buying the 7900 gtx today, but if i could maybe solve a problem with my 2 6800 ultras, i'll keep them

strange that. i would of said that ytour comp could run fear no probs at high graphics. i run fear on highest poss and it lags out every now and then which i have put down to my crappy ram, but yet you have 2G. it espiecally shouldnt be lagging out on COD 2
