Default Need a solid gaming computer

So im looking to build a low-mid range gaming computer, and i want to spend around $500. Ill be playing WoW and CoD5 and all that good stuff but i dont want any real lag. I dont care if im maxing out settings but i would like mid to high settings available. I looked at the sticky and is that the best option, i dont know if im gonna overclock or not but i guess i could give it a try, never done it before. Any input would be much appreciated!

Do you need anything else besides the computer itself? Like keyboard, mouse, speakers, etc.

6000+ X2
780G
2x2GB DDR2 800
Seagate 500GB (change this according to how much space you actually need.
HD 4850
OCZ 500W
Elite 330
Optical drive

~$500 total. Way less if you count the rebates.

Worshipme posted a very good build. I tried doing an Intel setup, but with that budget it didn't work out too well.
