I'm a little curious as to what the problem truely was, and what fixed it.

Well, I saw something strange in my Device Manager, it was Multimedia Audio, or something like that. I just right clicked on that and hit "reinstall drivers". That worked. Now, I really love Vista.

At first I was like I'm not getting it until they come out with a service pack.

I'm glad it worked out for you. Sorry i didn't have you look for that, it didn't cross my mind that the device could be somewhere else when it's not exactly known what it is.

vista is crap, to many things aren't compatable

i have tried vista, i didn't like it now im running xp as my os

Well then you probably dont know how to use it properly, things like compatability wizard etc. If your gonna slate something at least give some valid reasons and explanations etc.

I didn't have problems with that. I usually installed manually. The problem with mine, I think, was a problem with the SIS AGP controller driver. The updates fixed it.
