Need a new computer (soon)

I am looking at a basic new computer HP with AMD Athlon X2 5000+ (2.6 Ghz??)

How and what Intel processor does this compare to?

I have never owned AMD anything, do they have the same stable reliability I have found with Intel?

The 5000+ is roughly the same speed as the Core 2 Duo E6400/E6550.
In that ballpark. It is very difficult to find an exact match in performance, though.
