Hey Everyone,

I am trying to put together a new gaming computer and I haven't done so in such a long time that I am completely out of date on what type of hardware is good. If anyone can help, can you guys put together a list of parts that would make up a pretty good gaming computer? My budget is around $1500, give or take another $500. Also, if you guys don't feel like putting the time into putting a list of parts, do you guys know a website that builds custom computers that doesn't over charge on what they are selling?

-Thanks

It is not about being lazy. It is about me not knowing what exactly is worth the money. I do not feel like spending money on something I will regret later.

I'll build you an AMD one. I don't know a ton on intel, so I'll leave that to someone else who knows more than me about it.

CPU-- 965 125w http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103727&cm_re=965-_-19-103-727-_-Product $180

Lite on DVD burner http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827106334 $27

total cost... $1367

Add a second F1 for RAID0 if you want faster boots and slightly better gaming performance.
This will max any game you can throw at it. (idk about crysis 2, but that isnt out yet so nobody can really be sure)

I prefer to overkill the PSU because you never know what you will need down the road.

yeah, 850 might be better though. You could still add a second 5850 and have plenty of power.

EDIT: intel build...

If there are better parts, someone please let me know, but these looked good to me.

Change CPU to i7 920 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115202&cm_re=i7_920-_-19-115-202-_-Product $288
OCZ 6GB triple channel RAM kit http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...=triple_channel_memory-_-20-227-501-_-Product $171
ASUS P6T x58 mobo http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...cm_re=1366_motherboard-_-13-131-359-_-Product $230

total price is brought to $1406.

Overall, you will get nearly identical gaming performance with either build, so my opinion is go with the AMD build. You get more and faster RAM too. (though triple channel on the intel build evens it out for speed)
