Hey guys. I'm in the market for some RAM and I'm torn between these two:

BTW, I'm currently running a pair of mushkin 1 GB (2 x 512MB) set, PC3200 184 PIN.

G.SKILL 2GB

OCZ Platinum

I've heard good things about both, but I need your help of which to choose. If anyone has any other options I'm open for that too. I'm in a budget situation and I don't really want to spend more than the pair of OCZ. I'm also not a fan of overclocking so I don't care about OC abilities. Thanks guys.

They are both good choices. I'm running 2GB of the OCZ Platinum and they're great. I'd suggest getting the set that most closely matches the timings of your current Mushkin memory. :D

Please dont think less of me for asking but Chinny what are you doing with ur old sticks???

Its ok i was just about to ask .im currently looking for some more ram

also i would choose the set that is closest in timings to the old ram but if both are equaly as close get the OCZ they are the better brand

I'm actually using them. Sorry man. I'm getting the set so I can have a 2x dual channel (quad channel if you want to call it) so I can have 3GB of RAM. I'm not fully utilizing the power of my system because of it.

BTW, why would I think less of you? ;)

Regarding timing: I tried to google search it and it yielded nothing.

Here's what I have:

mushkin green

Another question: I just did some eBay searches and found some really good prices for the same Green Line by mushkin. If I were to get a 2GB kit from the same line, that would be fine to right?

Or were the first two much better than getting another Green Line kit by mushkin?

Edit: I think my timing is 3-3-3-8

The G.SKILL is at 2.5-3-3-6 and the OCZ 2-3-2-5.

I guess timing wise, the G.SKILL should do it? Or should I still opt for the OCZ. Sorry for the abundance of questions.

Yes, another set of Mushkin green would be great if you can get it at a good price. Otherwise, go ahead and get the G.SKILL.

Directron does have a set of Mushkin 2x 1GB PC3200 that matches your set perfectly for $129.99 w/free shipping. :D
