Using the ASCII code it's possible to translate binary to English. Binary is read from right to left.

Take 01001010 for example:

Starting for the right, you do number (0 or 1) * 2 ^ place (starting at 0). So in this case, 01001010 would evaluate to:

0 * 2 ^ 0 = 0
1 * 2 ^ 1 = 2
0 * 2 ^ 2 = 0
1 * 2 ^ 3 = 8
0 * 2 ^ 4 = 0
0 * 2 ^ 5 = 0
1 * 2 ^ 6 = 64
0 * 2 ^ 7 = 0

When you add you get 74.

Here's an ASCII Table
