Ive had 5.1 dolby digital on my pc with an external creative decoder for about 7 years now, ive upgraded the speakers but i have to say on the x-fi sounds great. I also noticed a couple fps increase in games using Hardware sound effects/EAX. One thing u should do is download winamp and turn on 24bit audio decoding, makes a huge difference to the sound of music.
