Need help with sound card

The biggest difference you'll notice is about $60. They will both provide much better sound than the on-board sound.

Logitech makes a nice speaker and at $49 they are a good deal.

so do you think I should just cheap it and go with the audigy SE? I'm not an enthusiast when it comes to sound. As long as it will provide decent 5.1 and take a significant load off my CPU...

alright thanks.

I just hope it really will take some load off my CPU, and not act as a pass through....

anyone else?

for me, the 7.1 is too much since i dont have surround sound, and even if i did, i would get the 5.1, i think thats what the numbers are for.

Its pretty much better to avoid onboard, but there are people that say onboard sound is good enough if you dont do any music things. I would just go with an Creative sound card, and the cheapest one. Either way, its an improvement if you have a good speaker.

I have the X-Fi Xtreme Gamer and I love it. It would make more sense for you to get the Audigy SE. It will make everything sound better than your onboard sound.
