I'm fixing up an old sony vaio for a friend and have some issues that maybe some of you can help me with.

Sony VAIO VGC-RB52
Intel Pentium D 820 2.8GHz 800MHz FSB
Intel 945G chipset w/Intel GMA950

- I installed Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit and the sound doesn't work at all. I've tried installing the driver manually and it won't let me. All it shows is the error in devices and can show that it is an HDAUDIO device.

- It has 1GB(512x2) PC2-4200 ram installed with two extra slots. Would the board be able to read 3GB if I put 1GB sticks in the two empty slots? Or is it limited by Sony to only 2GB?

- What is the normal CPU temp? The CPU fan would go above 4200RPM and stay there even though the CPU temp is around 42c and has no load.

- One of the plastic clips holding down the heatsink on the integrated graphics chip broke so it isn't securely on the chip. Should I replace the plastic frame that secures it down or just leave it as it is? It is secure for the most part but can wiggle a tiny bit. Not sure how hot the chip gets.
