Default Need help with a new hard drive

Well I just got another hard drive because I was running out of room on my 80gb. Here's the problem, it isn't showing up in 'My Computer'. It shows its there in the BIOS and in Device Manager. So how do I get it to show up in My Computer?

Sorry if this is a stupid question but I dont know how.

Did you format it and make it active? What does it say the status is in Device Manager?

Go to disk management, is it visible there? (right click My Computer > Disk Management)

If it is you'll need to right click it, initialise it, then format it.

If it isn't post back

Hard drives have to be formatted before they are recognized, if the hard drive came with any kind of formatting software, you can just put the cd for that in and it should recognize the hd for you and format it. My Maxtors came with that, I don't know what brand you bought but it may have come with it too.
