Add about $80 more and get the GTX 295. You'll have one hell of a computer. You can upgrade to a quad core if you want. Many games are finally starting to utilize some of the extra cores.

Well, either one would be a great system. It is up to you. the main difference is a 45nm quad vs. a 45nm Core 2. Like I said, It all comes down to what you want and what you'll be using the computer for. The core 2 is a great OC'er but the new Phenom II's are also phenomenal OC'ers I would personally like the Quad Phenom II system but you should decide for yourself.

But you do need a power supply. This one looks good to me and will supply plenty of power. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817139009

I highly doubt he would ever need an 850W PSU for his build. Overkill if you ask me...

Might I suggest this OCZ 700W?

There's no point is spending $500 if your monitor is 19". You need to be running at least 1920x1200 to even consider such a high end card.

This stuff is from TigerDirect, right?

I would go with a quad over the dual. Quads are so cheap now and it's definitely worth it for the future as most of the new games coming out will be multithreaded.
I'd go with the Phenom II 940 BE.
A 790GX motherboard.
2x2GB 1066.

Like I said, the GPU will depend on your monitor's native res, so we need a little more information.

will that be good enough for the gpu i chose? i dont wanna spend 400 bucks on a monitor tho so i dont know....let me know what u think. also should i even bother to get 2 harddrives? ill have enough space with 640gb but should i put 2 for better performance?
