need help installing asus hd 6850 card

Hello to all,

I was going to buy the geforce 550ti as thats all my budget could buy at a maximum of £100 but then i was told about radeon hd 6850 card been lowered in price to £90 and its far better, my only concern is instaling it, it requires a seperate connector which is only £3 a 2x 6-Pin PCI-E Power connectors required
I know nothing about cards and computers only my computer needs a new card,
Which card is better and if it is 6850 how do i connect it up?
are there anymore cards out there that are good for about £100.
power supply i have in is 500w.

May i ask why you need a separate connector?

If the connector is This ^^^^ Then you only need this if your PSU doesn't have a 6-Pin PCI-E connector.

I would also suggest you upgrade your PSU to a 600w+ PSU (Recommend 750w)

With a 750w if you ever wanted to crossfire you would not need to upgrade PSU again

You'll need a new PSU from the sounds of it, but maybe not if you have a quality PSU and not much else, but it sounds like that card will suck a fair bit of power. ATM, I own a PNY 550Ti and it kicks most butt, so yeah... I think you should get that to save yourself the PSU headache, but it's up to you.
