Need Help on Dicision

I have a Gateway P6831FX, I want it to preform better than it does. i get lag occasionally running music programs etc. Is this because of my processor? I have Norton 630. I would like to know whats the best processor that's compatible with this laptop and how i would go about installing it myself. Any other ideas on upgrades for this laptop to ensure it lasts would be great. Please help

Hello, I Design using Adobe After Effects CS3 And Adobe Photoshop CS3, And Occasionally Play Games And Music Produce.

What Is The Recommended Processor For My Computer?
