Default Need help creatings a full systme backup & restre cd on xp

I am trying to do a full system backup and create a windows xp restore cd. It fails and I get this report.

"Backup Status
Operation: Backup
Active backup destination: File
Media name: "Backup.bkf created 10/21/2008 at 4:50 PM"

Backup Status
The files for the recovery diskette could not be created. The operation was aborted.
The operation did not successfully complete."

Any idea what I can do to get my files backed up and create a restore disk? I really need the restore cd.

I am trying to back it up onto a 300gb usb hard drive. I can also use dvd's if that's better. I haven't tried because that's a lot of dvd's. My system died a while back and I just not got all my stuff back on it. I would really like to have a restore cd in case it happens again.

Thanks so much for the help

Try back software like "Acronis True Image". They have trial versions. They have a new version but have not tried the new version yet. True image can back up the entire Hard Drive, partitions, and or just files. i think it is very useful.

Whats your opinion?

Acronis is a great tool for backup and restore.

I would get that ASAP and make a image of your computer.
Then upload the image on megaupload or somewhere safe.
