Need help choosing some parts for a old build.

ok it isnt high end, but the parts he's using arent mid end. the 4670 is a pcie 2.0, it won't perform on his pcie 1. Not to its full potential anyway

Get the 8800 and you are $1 over budget.

yes it will. It takes a pretty high bandwidth card for this to matter.

8800 is better tho. Still no bottleneck.

I thought the 8800 series needs at least 450W.

This is what I have come up with so far
Recertified: EVGA GeForce 8800 GT
COOLER MASTER eXtreme Power Plus 500W
OCZ Gold 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2

Total so far is $163, not sure if he wants to go that high, especially since the 8800GT is recertified. I kind of want to get it to SLI so I won't have to upgrade for awhile, but I kind overspend this month.

EDIT - Just remembered that he has an microATX computer, so I don't think an 8800 will fit in there, or any other high-end card. I got a friend that is willing to give me a case that the 8800 will fit, but I only see him once in awhile.

Micro ATX just means the bottom three expansion slots are chopped off. It should work fine unless it's some weird OEM design.

I'm not saying if it will work or not, I'm saying it's not going to fit in his case. He has an MicroATX case. The weird thing about this case is that it makes the motherboard turn upside down.

That's inverted ATX/mATX. Shouldn't make a difference if a card will fit or not. What'll matter is the length restriction, or is that what you mean by "it won't fit"?

^ That

Even if it's a BTX, it should still work. Though if it IS a BTX, normal PSU's won't fit properly...that'd be a nice thing to know.

What sort of computer is it?

I'm saying it won't fit in his case, or at least get decent airflow (mostly a tight fit). I put in one of my old graphics card in there back then, and after a couple months in there, there was always some burning smell, and it turns out it was my graphics card.
