how do u compare pentium 4 - 3ghz with dual core - 2ghz...

and with dual core E2180 - 2ghz, 1mb cache, 800mhz fsb
what motherboard u prefer among these;

Intel D945GCPE (775PINS - SND+AGP+LAN)
Intel D945GCNL (775PINS - SND+AGP+GIGA LAN) PCX SLOT
Intel DG31PR (775PINS - SND+AGP+GIGA LAN - 1333MHZ FSB) PCX SLOT

check the comparison

please explain a bit about the board u prefer...

and pcx is old isnt it so? and what good it can bring?

Thanks

The Pentium 4 is based on the god awful Netburst architecture. The Pentium Dual Core E2180 is based on the heavily tweaked and much improved in every way Core architecture.

The E2180 has 2 cores both running at 2GHz. The Pentium 4 is a single core CPU. Remember, two cores both running at 2GHz doesn't equal 4GHz, there is only one thread per core.

The G31 is the better chipset. It has a slightly better IGP (although it's still Intel integrated so it will be very poor.), and has better CPU support.

EDIT: In fact, scrap everything I just said, you'd be better off doing with the excellent AMD 780G motherboard and an Athlon 64 X2.
