Default Need Hard Drive suggestions

I am building a new system and I need help choosing a new hard drive for it. I have built a few systems but they have been low end systems and I have always just used cheap hard drives. Could someone give me some suggestions on what to go with. Here is what I have ordered for the system so far,

ABIT IP35 Pro
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...ro%2bLGA%2b775

Q6600 cpu
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819115017

OCZ Platinum Edition 4GB
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...bEdition%2b4GB

BFG GeForce 8800GTS
http://shop3.outpost.com/product/547...H:MAIN_RSLT_PG

Tuniq Tower 120 Cooler
http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16835154001

The system will be used mainly used for gaming, Battlefield 2, Frontlines, and Nr2003. I would like something pretty quiet but it really is no big deal.

Thanks for any help.

Any of the Seagate or Western Digital hard drives will always work. There are a ton of choices out there.... here are a few recommendations:

Seagate, 250GB, $69.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822148262

Western Digital, 500GB, $99.99 (Great buy)

I agree, those are some good hard drives right there. But you should probably get something like this:http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1198286608739 BestBuy is a trust worthy place that alot of people know about.

Firstly, welcome to the forum.

Secondly, newegg.com has been used by millions of people and a great majority of this forum will tell you that they're a joy to deal with. Low prices, super-fast shipping, and an incredible customer service dept with no problems returning almost anything. I'd rather buy from newegg than bestbuy.

If u want speed, this is what u need!!!

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822136012

Western Digital Raptor WD1500ADFD 150GB 10,000 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 1.5Gb/s Hard Drive - OEM $$169.99

If u want storage then get one that Ghost suggested.

PS: If u have money to spend, get 2x 150g or 2x 74g Raptors and put the in raid 0 !!!! Whoots! Thats what I'm doing with my new build.

By the way ur links dont work, i think people need to log in to newegg in order rto view them, just fyi

I recommed the Samsung I have: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822152052 or this open box one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...2E16822152052R
And have you actually finalised the order for those parts yet? As I have have some recommendations for your build. As for Raptors, they're nice, but IMO the money is better spend elsewhere. Sure, they're faster, but the most you get is 150GB and you have to spend quite a bit to get one that big. Plus they're noisier than 7200RPM drives.

The Samsung drives are actually very good, and quiet too. My brothers build has 2 of them, and they are much quieter than my Seagate Barracudda's

I am very happy with mine. I can finally leave my PC on at night without constant HDD clicking.

I have that motherboard, and that CPU, and they go really well together

Though, the motherboard might not be the most up to date anymore, but I'm happy with it, seeing as I won't update for a very long time.

I don't agree with going for a Raptor drive though. In my opinion for every day use, they just are not worth it, if you've spent a lot or not.

I have 2 320gb Seagate Barracuda's which run at 7200RPM, and are running in a RAID 1 formation, mirroring each other, so if one ever failed, I'd still have all my data.
It'd be very expensive to do something like that with a Raptor.
