ok what has happened is that ive had to replace my samsung x30 motherboard as the gpu went on it. brought this one:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=380013524432

said it was 100% and everything but when putting it into my laptop and trying it all that happens is that the power on button flashes for a split second. upon around with the dc in converter daughter board i manged to make it work once. i know there is nothing wrong with the dc inverter board as it works fine on my other motherboard and powers up no problems. i have sent him this message:

Dear Laptop Specialists

First of all I would like to say thank you for the quick delivery, I was not expecting it to arrive so soon. Unfortunately Im having some problems with the motherboard. After installing the motherboard the laptop does not power up. The only sign of life is that the power button light turns on for a split second. Please could you adivse. I have used another x30 motherboard to test the memory and daughter boards which all work fine

Thank you Darren

and he replied back with this:

hello,
did you tried the motherboard before fitting ?

now what shall i reply back to that with? and by that i mean what would a laptop speicalist do first? i have read this guys neg feedback and once he has blamed a fault on the persons inexperience which i think he might try and do here

and if he wanted to talk to that expert?

either you lie to him and tell him you tried it on a static mat before putting it in the laptop and see what he says

or you come completely clean and tell him you didnt try it out of the laptop but i reckon he would probably say you damaged it then

Yeah, don't come clean with someone like that.
It doesn't work so you need to make sure he knows that and doesn't try to shove it off as something you've done. I know you would'nt have caused damage to it.

Just say, that the difference wouldn't have been noticable if you'd have checked it out of the box anyway. What could have happened from taking it out and inserting it, and that you have had someone check it out, yeah.

You could always take it out and test it now though. Maybe you have got a loose screw or something causing it to short circuit?

But yeah, you could do it all in reverse, and now contact an electrician, and just say you didn't place it in.

the ways i have tested it are:

1st putting it all together with screws and everything else attached

2nd with just the motherboard and daughter dc in converter board and power button attached while screwed in to the laptop

3rd on a static bag with the daughter dc in converter board and power button attached

all was powered by the battery and with the mains adapter plugged in but not turned on at the socket

shall i just tell him that i did the 3rd one 1st and then the 2nd one 2nd? i think it might reduce any room for argument

Due to complicated installations, sensitivity to damage, and value of motherboards, we will supply only recognised laptop maintainers, supported by a web site. All mainboard purchases are vetted, please do not buy this item if you are not a recognised laptop maintainer, supported by a web site.

He may be a douch, but he kind of covered his butt pretty well with that. You are obviously not a professional. There are a number of things that could have happened while you were putting it in that damaged it, you didn't bother running it up outside before putting it in (the best idea if possible, you know if it works before going through the hassle), were you wearing a grounding strap, you may have shorted the board without even realizing it. Could have also been damaged in shipment.
What form of payment did you use? You may be able to file a claim with paypal if he won't replace it, but I wouldn't hold my breath that you will get anything.
He has a pretty good argument unfortunately and you obviously weren't completely honest with him being he says he won't sell to someone without a site for computer repair. You could try to tell him you ran it up out of the case first, but that will be difficult because if it didn't work before why did you put it in and if it did work before then your obviously screwed and would have busted it putting it in. Sorry, just my .02 man, good luck with it.

Xtreme is so correct and 1rep because thats well helpful.

Can't you get money back on damaged goods? paypal covers anything upto £500 right?

But hold on, I ain't even read the TOS on paypal so wtf would I know I don't know.
