keeping your monitor on after your computer is turned off makes the monitor last a lot longer

Myth.... Bullcrap myth at that. If anything, it would last longer when it is off, since no electricity is slowly degrading the microtransistors.

lol, its like a lite bulb man, all electronics are, if u turn it off when u walk out the room, it will last longer than leaving it on

lol, i leave mine on. I get new ones from my dad reguarly because when he is editing pictures, the colours need to be perfect and sometimes they go, so at the mo im on a 22" Apple monitor on my pc!

I don't bother to turn off my monitor when I shut down my PC. When the PC is off, the monitor goes into Standby or whatever term your monitor uses. I use my PC a lot so I never bother to push the power button.
