Usually, but not always, if your computer shuts down after that length of time it's the processor overheating normally beacause of dust and fluff in the heat sink. Only solution for that is to take the heat sink off and give it a good clean with a paint brush and a vacumm cleaner. You can do it in situ but that's not easy. If you take the heatsink off the cpu then you will have to put new heat sink compound between the heat sink and the cpu chip. I'm afraid that if you have ask how to do all that and I am not being awkward, then I'm afraid it might be better to take it to your local friendly computer fixer upper. There are other things that can cause it, such as RAM, motherboard and power supply none of which are repairable and would have to be replaced.

How long can you use it for before it will restart?

Yes there are lots of other things that can cause this. Faulty motherboard, faulty RAM, faulty CPU and faulty power supply. also any faulty daughter boards ie graphics cards, can cause overheating and random shutdowns. The only way I know to fault find those is by substitution.

I suppose they can be repaired but it would be a specialist job because of the way that they are built. Most computer boards are multi layered so some serious specialist equipment would be needed. Much cheaper to replace it. The problem is that it could be so many other things, all of which I listed. the only way I know how to fault which bit it is that is causing the problem is to substitute each bit until the computer works properly.

A 3 year old computer is, technologically, old. It would be more cost effective I would think to replace it. If you took it to a tech he would more than likely charge at least 100 and quite possibly not find the fault.

Sorry I'm not a gamer so I wouldn't know I'm afraid. Perhaps you should start a new thread to ask that question as it might be a while before someone else looks at this thread. Internet streaming speed is governed more by the speed that you are getting from your ISP although the computer does play a part. It also depends on whether you use wireless or not. My advice, if your a gamer, is to give wireless a wide berth or better still don't use it all and go wired.
