I've decided to build my own laptop from scratch. Yes, from scratch, just like a desktop. And yes, these parts will be expensive because their LAPTOP PARTS, not desktop parts! So please refrain from using negativity when expressing your opinions...:)

So far, I've decided on these parts:

-ASUS Z71V Chassis w/ 15.7" Widescreen LCD, nVIDIA GeForce Go 6600 (128mb RAM & PCI-E interface), integrated 56kbps modem, Gigabit Ethernet, 5x USB 2.0 ports, a card reader and a bundled battery for approximately 6 hours of operation.
$789 - http://www.pcconnection.com/ProductDetail?Sku=5831111

-Intel Pentium M 760 2.0ghz "Dothan" Core (533mhz FSB, 2mb L2 Cache, Socket 479).
$484 - http://www.pcuniverse.com/product.asp?pid=3193781&m_id=

-1gb (512mb x2) OCZ Value Series DDR2-533 (PC2-4200) 200-pin SO-DIMM Notebook RAM
$55.25 per stick - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820227106

-60gb Hitachi TravelStar 7K60 2.5" Hard Drive 7200RPM
$158.95 - http://www.techdepot.com/product.asp?productid=1758303&affid=10000485

-Toshiba SD-R6472 Dual-Layer DVD Burner (2mb Cache)
$94.99 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16827130018

-Intel PRO Wireless 2200BG Network Adapter (2.4ghz Frequency Band, Mini-PCI, IEEE 802.11b, IEEE 802.11g, Wi-Fi Certified)
$26.19 - http://www.buy.com/retail/product.asp?sku=10376132&loc=101&hdwt=0&sp=1

Grand (and expensive) Total: $1663.63 :D

Mind you, that this is a laptop, not a desktop, so some of the prices are okay for Mobil solutions. What do you guys think? This thing is just about as good as the Toshiba Qosmio G25, but at a little more than half-the-price (yes, it's about $3000). http://www.toshibadirect.com/td/b2c/cmod.to?seg=HHO&coid=-29488&sel=0&rcid=-26367&ccid=1291021

The only thing that the Qosimo G25 has that's better than my setup is the 17" Widescreen w/ Ultimate TruBrite Technology. Even then, my ASUS Z71V's 15.4" Widescreen has better resolution (1680 x 1050 compared to 1440 x 900).

Very nice! I'm jealous... :D Have you looked at acer or anything like that? Check around cyberpower gamer, ibuypower, and falcon and check their prices. but that asus is nice... the qsimo or whatever is too expensive...

Cool. I never thought a laptop build was possible. Where's the motherboard? Or is it built in already? I am such a noob when it comes to laptop parts.

lol... NOOB. lol... yeah, it's possible. It's all about reading comp mag's! lol... :D

Man, I got to get more into laptops. I guess I can always upgrade the RAM in mine to a gig and get a faster hard drive in there. It's running on a 5400RPM drive, I think. Slow. Hey Alvino, get a faster drive in there if you can.

Yes. The motherboard, chipset, graphics adapter, and all the things I listed are included with the chassis.

I think I'll get this Hard Drive instead. Sacrifice capacity for speed and performance. :)

That makes it so much easier. I wonder if Newegg offer much in barebone laptops. I should check.

Definately, you probably couldn't find a OEM motherboard for a laptop...
Search around. A lot of places have Barebone Notebooks...
