Default My new proposed build

Okay, I am a heavy computer user. Most demanding thing would be working with Virtual computers, running 2 or 3 different instances of an operating system at the same time using software like VMWARE or Virtual PC. I also do a fair amount of gaming, and multimedia work. I also heavily multi task, killed my old PC before I put 2 gig of ram in it. Also do some multimedia work, but alot of the software is quite old and runs on almost any p3 or above.

So far this is what I have as my Idea's. Please ignore pricing on site, and refer to what i say I pay.

Antec Nine Hundred Case (90$)

Silverstone Element ST50EF-PLUS 500W (80$)

4x 1GB Undecided DDRII 800mhz Ram

Motherboard wise, deluxe looks best. I can use the extra LAN ports and USB, as well as I want a real quality board.

Pioneer 18X SATA DVD-RW

320GB SATAII Seagate Baracudda (Pull from old PC)

The motherboard is good, but I will always prefer the 680i Evga chipset. It is great for overclocking, and has good support.

If their is any reason why I am going to go with an eVGA board like that, I must be convinced that its higher quality. The board seems great, however I don't see any real advantage compared to a P5K Deluxe, except the memory not being linked to FSB. I'm not going to get insane overclocks on a core quad anyways though.

EDIT: Link to eVGA motherboard. http://www.ncix.com/products/index.p...A&promoid=1042

Theirs a possible program with the PCI slots on that eVGA board. They may not have backwards compatibility with PCI-X devices. I have a 66mhz 64 bit PCI-X network card and a 66mhz 32 bit PCI-X sound card that need to go into the computer. Alot of my older high end stuff thats getting moved over is PCI-X, this means it's important for it to work.

how do you know the Q6600 is G0? I bet they are still B3s. And I think you would be better off with a Silverstone ST56ZF or a Zippy GSM-600.

Looks like a solid build. Why such a low end GPU though? As for your ram I'd recommend this G.Skill memory. I have 4gigs in my system and it runs like a champ!

The Delux only has DDRIII support. I'd ge tthe P5KC for you. Much compatible and flexible.

Looks like a nice system, with 4GB that thing sounds like a beast!

The last order of Q6600's appeared to be entirely G0's, no guarantees but everyone else got one. Also the Silverstone ST56ZF has the same amount of power on the 12V rails as the PSU I am planning on (36A)

The low end GPU was cheap, and plays the games I currently want. In the future when crysis and stuff come out, i'll look at upgrading.

The Deluxe only has DDRII support (not III), however with 4 gig of ram going in, and a max of 8 on the board, I don't think 2x 4 gig DDRIII would ever be economical.

Besides looking nicer and being modular, I don't see a real advantage

Thanks

I'm also really looking into the eVGA boards as well, they are cheaper and appear great if the price sticks, likely won't be running my good soundcard in the new build anyways

Oh, I got mself reversed. I thought of the P5K3 Deluxe, which has only DDRIII.

The Deluxe contains more features than the P5KC, but if you're using 4 stick, you might opt for that, or if you ever feel to upgrade to DDRIII, opt for the P5KC. Although, I heard that DDRIII must be in pairs. I don't think so.
