Default My friend smashed my power supply

I have a really old [year 2000] computer that hit the shitter years ago. My friend took the power supply and smashed everything inside and it smells weird. What the hell is the smell?

That would be the smell of a potential fire hazard. I would suggest stop using the power supply immediately.

That part was unclear. Anyway, the smell is probably residual energy within the power supply that is shorting with other components (these power supplies will hold current for several years even while unplugged ... that's why we don't open them).

Not to mention that smell is probably toxic and not good for you.

Throw it in a hold and burn it
After it's burnt it shouldn't be a hazard anymore XP

Could it be the oil inside the Resistors and Capacitors?
