I know you said no need for dual core but for that money you coud swap the mobo cpu and ram out and get an amd athlon x2 for around the same money .and trust me when running one or more task this will excell and offer much better performance

heres an 3800 http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=ADA3800IAA5CU-R&cat=CPU
motherboard http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=K9MM-V-DT&cat=MBB
ram http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=1024DDR26400-N&cat=RAM

There is no point getting old solo core technology if you can get dual core cheaper or for a lil bit more

my suggestion is to buy from newegg. i have never heard of that site and newegg probably has better prices. unless your from canada or outside the USA. also newegg customer service is second to none

EDIT: games are multi threaded so gaming is technicaly multi tasking

i forgot to add logitech x230 speakers and i would have dealt with new egg but they dont accpet over the phone orders and i dont use my parents cards on the net becasue we already got "hacked" once and had to report fraud and change bank accounts and shit

im just using it for gaming i usauly dont run more than one task and weni do its nothin mjor
Yes but if you can get dual core for the same price get dual core honestly even if you never utilise its power the system will last longer before a new build is required

im not big on changes and my gateway i have has a P4 2.9ghz and weve had for bout two years and it runs as good as it did outa the box

well your decision is final but IMO it would be foolish not to take advanatge of the great AMD prices but like i said above your system your decision .
If wanna system like that tho i would take a look at use dones on ebay as you can prolly get a much better deal as everyone is going dual core

well i got a gateway too (5 years old) P4 1.793ghz and it sucks
if u dont go dual core now then u will not b able to upgrade easily
Single cores are completely out of date
and wats ur budget
Also if u get an intel Mobo u will not b able to OC easliy
Just like Muz said its your decision

ok i dont wanna over clock that is taking risk even if done right and lessin system life even more now what dual core will be faster than a P4 3.4ghz
