Well it happened after 8 months of pure love and joy my computer shut
down all by it self in the middle of the night. It usually gets left on 24/7
because it records re-airs late at night.

Got up this morning to watch some recorded shows from last night, hit the
video input TV button to switch to the PVR input, the screen was black, not
the normal windows desktop? Hmmmm.

The computers power on button light was blinking. I pushed it and nothing
but it looked like it went into standby, which is disabled on this computer but
is active on my other non PVR computer. The power button light blinks. Still
some thing is not right.

The first month the PVR was up, it shut down once for an AUTO-update and
rebooted. Of course Win2000 hangs at the administrator password. It was no
big deal, I just booted it. I turned off all AUTO updates so this would not
happen and stop my recording schedule.

NOT THIS TIME. I could not get a screen or display at all.

>UNPLUGGED IT
>TRIED TO BOOT AND ITS JUST SOUNDING LIKE IT'S TAKING OFF (HARD DRIVE ACTIVITY)?
>TRIED TO BOOT FROM THE DVD DRIVE WITH THE INSTALLATION DISK?
>THE DVD SPOOLS UP BUT NO JOY, BLANK SCREEN.
>TRIED TO PLAY WITH CONNECTIONS. NOTHING.
>VIDEO CARD HAS DVI & VGA OUTPUTS, I AM USING THE DVI/HDI OUTPUT.

>TOOK THE PVR OUT, AND BROUGHT IT TO MY "LABORATORY".
>CONNECTED IT TO ANOTHER SMALL VGA MONITOR (NOT DVI). NO LUCK?

>I AM KIND OF STUCK?

Any ideas?
>Dead main hard drive (20Gb main has system)? The 500gb has video only no system files.
>Virus, I do us it for web surfing but did a scan recently
>Bad Video card? Not likely?
>Doesn't SOUND like it is booting, hard drive activity wise.
>Doesn't take off from DVD?

HELP? Waaaa
