My brother just reformatted his computer, says he doesn't have internet.

It's Windows XP SP2.

What should he try to get his internet back?

I told him to unplug his ethernet cable, restart, and then plug it in and it should automatically detect the connection. But it didn't work.

He said during XP installation he just kept clicking NEXT, so whatever it said for Internet, he picked the DEFAULT SETTINGS.

We have a Cable Modem/Router for 3 PCs setup.

Well, I just plug the adapter in, install the drivers (that came on a CD with the adapter) and I'm away.

Also, if the network is password protected make sure he's entered it right.

Which driver should he download?

The computer is AMD X2 4200+

What kind of router do u have?
Have u tried putting direct connection the the computer to see if it a computer problem or an ip issue. Try those first and reply back.

I have so many internet issues at my house, 4 computers in a router, no internet, one having none, yeah i handle it all the time.

nevermind he found a cd in the motherboard box and it did everything for him
