MSI dvd+-rw/cd-rw 8x

Its my first time posting here. I hope someone can help me. My dvd/cd drive worked fine when I first got it but now it will not read nor write on cds only dvds. I was buring a cd one day and it stoped in the middle of the burn and never worked since. I have a Windows xp sp2 with all updates installed. I have tryed reistaltioin of windows also but still didn't work. If you need any more info just ask. Hope someone can help, and please don't pick on my spelling. I know I suck at it .

Im not sure on this. BUT, If the CD stopped burning smack dab in the middle of the burn and hasn't worked sinse. Something may have burned out.

Can you open and close the tray?
Do CD's read and start up?

The tray opens and every thing. It acts like a DVD-+rw only, without the cd part. It can read and write dvds fine. If you put a cd in it spins up and it doesn't even give an error message, just like if you put nothing in.
