Hey.. I am trying to optimize my computers performance.. I saw a thread on getting rid of start up items in the msconfig..

Under the startup tab, how do you know which items you "need" to have running.. and which you don't?

Here is a list of my items under the startup tab..

NVRTClk
NvCpl
nwiz
HDAudPropShortcut
SOUNDMAN
ALCWZRD
NeroCheck
qttask
NvMcTray
Adobe Gamma Loader
Adober Reader Speed Launch
Logitech SetPoint
Adobe Gamma

I haven't the slightest idea of what most of these are and what they do? Could anyone help please?

NeroCheck - constantly checks for drivers that may conflict with Nero. Irrelevant.
qttask - QuickTime tray icon. Irrelevant.
Adobe Reader Speed Launch - speeds up the startup of Adobe Reader. Irrelevant.

... all the above can be unticked.

NVRTClk
NvCPL
nwiz
NvMcTray
... all related to your graphics. Should not be disabled.

HDAudPropShortcut
ALCWZRD
... high definition audio drivers. Should not be disabled.

Adobe Gamma Loader
Adobe Gamma
... maintains best picture for your screen possible. Disable if you want too.

Logitech SetPoint
... control panel for your Logitech Keyboard/Mouse. Not recommended to disable.
