Default Ms-dos

well i've just joined here by the way so hi to everyone...

basically i've decided to learn how to use MS DOS after seeing my brother do all sorts of cool things using it .i've already learned quite a bit but what i want to know is how do i type in names with spaces

by this what i mean is i was going to look at the directory for the start menu so i typed "dir start menu" and pressed enter then it just said "file not found" so i thought i was typing in the command wrong so i checked it with a one word directory and it worked so how do i type in a 2 or more word directory
