Default .mpd extension question

Hey this is my first time on this forum, I'm a 17 year old vo-tech student in an electronics/computer tech. course. My teacher asked me to fix a HP scanner (its a Scanjet 4p) on a computer with Windows 98. I updated the scanner drivers but the SCSI card is giving me problems. I finally found the update the card is from SYMBIOS and is a SYM20401. I unzipped the file but its a .mpd extension. I've been around computers since I was 5 and never heard of it except as an .mp3 playlist file. Does anyone here know where I can find an installer capable of using a .mpd file? My search has turned up nothing except music player daemons and research papers on Multiple Personality Disorder. Thanks in advance.
