mp3 conversion

well a few hours ago i was burning a cd of music then when i plyed it i noticed it didn't play i thought i the cd was malfunctioning at first so i put it in my computer and saw the files the reason they hadn't played was because they were mp3s. i was quite confused because before when i burned a cd it would convert music files into .wavs but it's not doing that anymore which is really annoying because i dont have a cd player that plays mp3s could anyone tell me how to change the setting or somthing like that so they do get converted as i burn btw i use nero5

i have a program called sonic that does it but have a look on download.com they have some stuff like that
