Mouse lags and sound is stuttering when I type on keyboard

When I type something on keyboard (or keep pressed a key) and move the mouse, the mouse pointer moves not smoothly but is skipping from one position to another - laaging.
Also when I listen to mp3 the sound is stuttering. When I stop typing, everything is ok. Sometimes when I restart the computer the problem disappears.
I have win2000, Microsoft Multimedia keyboard PS/2 - I tried the default windows driver too, Genius NetScroll Optical mouse PS/2, Abit NF7 board.

What type of motherboard do you have?

I think it started when I bought the keyboard.
I have Abit NF7 board. I checked the IRQs, but there is no conflict.

No. Keyboard and mouse do have cord.

Have you tried out our ideas in this thread to see if they sort it out? Or are you still at a loss?
