Mothereboard Fried

I just got a computer for my firend who said the only thing that was wrong with it is the motherboard fried. The mobo is a K7S5A. My question is how to I check to make sure the motherboard is actually fried and there are no other problems with the other parts.

Just switch it on, surely, mix and match with your pc parts. All fun.
