Default Motherboard Compatability

I am looking at upgrading my CPU, I am a real fan of AMD. I am thinking about getting either the 5000, or 6000. This is because I have ea budget to hold to. The thing that I am concerned about is whether my mobo is compatible with them. I have an ASUS A7V8X-LA, for a motherboard. It came standard with my computer when I got is in 2004. So I am just looking for advice on compatibility.

No, you will need a socket AM2 motherboard and DDR2 RAM. They are available for cheaper than you think: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813138106
That mobo also supports the new Phenoms should you wish to upgrade later.
AMD Phenom II X4 955 BE @ 4.0GHz + TU120E lapped - MSI 770-CD45 AM3 - 2x2GB OCZ DDR3 1333MHz - Sapphire HD 4870 - Samsung Spinpoint 500GB 7200RPM 16MB cache HDD - Tagan TG600-BZ Piperock - (Currently open test bed) - Windows Vista Home Premium 64bit.
