So I helped a buddy of mine out with some stuff I wont go into and his brother thanked me by giving me a 9850 phenom OEM processor....sweet but now I have a problem.

need a motherboard ^-^

I have a 8800GT and will upgrade to a 4870 soon so I wanna make sure no boards block it.

I have around 100 bucks...my PC parts are

4x1gb G-Skill DDR2 800
2x 500GB Seagate HDs SATA
vx750w Corsair PSU
1x8800GT 512mb

I need a board that can handle CPUs up to 140w also needs 1 IDE since I use 2 old IDE 250GB HDs for storage.

But I was told the AMD 7xx chipset was better.

So what about this board?

I wont be overclocking I don't like to stress my parts...I live in a rather hot area so I gotta use custom cooling just to keep normal temps.

i got a friend that has an ASUS board. Caught on fire once. Not sure if you guys will believe me or not. But even when the board got caught on fire, after it was out its still perfectly working. Something touched with something which caused the fire.
I would go with Asus, MSI, and Gigabyte.

A SB750 board is a must have for a Phenom. The new southbridge improves overclocking A LOT. You can get a 790GX/SB750 board for the same price as a 780G: Biostar 790GX
