most compressive compressor

I need to back up my computer to reformat, and I have 60 gigs of tv shows saved on my computer. I can delete maybe 1/3 of it (however I would like to keep it becuase I had a hard time finding family guy in a large resoloution) and I was wondering what format of compression would make them as small as possible without a loss of quality?

Using RAR on the highest compression level is usually pretty good. There are others that can compress slightly more, but I like RAR just because it's a lot more common.

.7z has some very good compression rates as well.

thanks, I did some googling, and .7z was the 2nd best one some people tested, and the number 1 one was not able to do videos, so I'll use .7z

i dunno if it still works, but i think i got crysis from 1.77gb down to 480MB, using RAR.

i compressed a 4gb iso into 600mb
