Most common computer problems?

If you're looking to fix people's computers, the most common "problems" are a cluttered up hard drive, registry, bad system settings, viruses, spyware, etc. To clean up people's systems download CCleaner then load it up onto a flash drive and take it wherever you want. Viruses and spyware you just boot into safe mode and do scans. For system settings make sure their temporary file storage isn't set too high and that appropriate firewalls and passwords are set on the system and on the router if they have one.

Yes, that's exactly what I want to do, is to fix people's computers. Thanks for the info. Also, are hardware problems common or not really? And are there any OS/software problems that are common or are viruses and the other stuff you mentioned pretty much it as far as the OS/software side goes?

As for hardware problems, if your clients are gamers make sure their parts aren't bottlenecking each other and that they have enough ram and that their temperatures are fine. You can put Everest on a flash drive to check temperatures.

As for OS/Software problems not really, unless they've mucked up their system so much that you should do a clean install of their OS. If you do that, however, make sure that you explain to them clearly what you are going to do and make sure that they understand.

Have fun fixing peoples computers!
