Default More Memory

I have a dell inspiron 1501 running on vista with 1 GB of memory. The laptop is mainly used for web surfing and doing little tasks so I opted for the 1 GB. But I never knew how much memory vista required. I want to add more memory but wasn't sure which product to get or if this is even possible without going through dell. Which route should I take to doing this? Which products would you recommend and can I add it myself? I will probably just add another 1 GB or 2. Thank you.

Well, if you want to upgrade to 2GB of memory, you have to know how many avaliable memory slots you have. You can get (2) 512MB DDR2 533 RAM modules if you have 2 slots empty or (1) 1GB DDR2 533 RAM module if you only have 1 empty. You can do it yourself very easy. Here are a couple of links to some memory modules:

Thank you for the reply. How do I find out how many slots are available and will those 2 modules work with my pc?

Here is a little tutorial that shows you what you need to know to install memory on a laptop: http://www.computermemoryupgrade.net...op-memory.html

As far as the memory compatiblity, those should work with your computer, they have the same specs as the memory already in your system.
