Question Monitor Resolution

Hey, I have two 1440x900 Monitors and i recent set my resolution to 1680x1050 I was wondering if that is bad for the monitor.

Are you talking about creating a virtual desktop?

If your monitor was made for 1440x900, I wouldn't go past it.

You couldn't go past it..there physically wouldn't be enough pixels.

I think his monitors just support a higher rez than he thought they could.

Well I'm getting a higher rez even though my monitor clearly states that it only supports 1440x900. I checked the option to display resolutions my monitor wont support and tried it and some worked.

Are these LCDs or CRTs?

I dont think they make widescreen CRTs so I am guessing they are LCDs. And if it says you cant support it, but you are trying to force it, it just isnt working. There are only so many pixels on the screen...
