Unhappy Monitor Problems

I reformatted Windows 98, then put ME on. I did this for a friend, and now in ME, I'm stuck with 16 colors. I can't change it, or anything. Do I need another driver? When he had 98 on, it was more than 16 colors. The monitor is a Visual Sensations VS-550 on a Standard PCI Graphics Adapter (VGA). I want to get it so I can use it in a higher level than 16 color.

Hey, Welcome

Yeah, thats why. The standard VGA drivers on earlier windows only produced 16 - 256 colours. You'll have to install Video Drivers.

Do you know what video card or chip you have in, or on your motherboard?

If you do, you'll simply need to download the driver for it again, and it'll sort itself out after installing

If not, download this program which displays exactly what is in your PC, and you can check what chip or card is running the video:

I hope this helps.

oka doke. Post back when you've found out

*Got message from a PM*

"It's an S3 Trio 3D/2x"

Find the drivers here:

http://www.softwarepatch.com/utilities/s33dtrio.html

You should be able to download that, and then install it, restart, and you should be able to select a new resolution and colours.

I hope this helps
