Monitor Problems

A friend has given me a Compaq V500 monitor to try and get it running for her to no avail so far. I've tried downloading the drivers for it an d plugging it in to my own pc. All i'm getting is the lcd light coming on and a slight change in the screen colour a s windows starts up. I've done a factory reset on it and the brightness and contrast but all i can get is to play with the monitor settings i cant get windows to appear on the screen at all. Any help greatly appreciated.

If this is a dual display thing. Then make sure you have it connected to the primary display. And not the secondary one.

What color is the light?

i'm just plugging it in where my own monitor has came out of. its the green lcd light on the front

If drivers ETC dont work get a new monitor if u are not a PRO dont open up a monitor and mess with it Enough Voltage to take you out
