Exclamation monitor malfunction

i need help with my monitor!!! the display is distorted almost EVERY second. its as if its not getting good reception or something. litteraly it just blinks at every one seccond interval and the distortion, not terrible, but very noticable. very annoying, the tower and monitor are both emachines, bought together.

t2085 emachines tower.
using a 2000+ amd athlon xp,
xp home ed.
768mb RAM
nvidia 5500 geforce GC - coolbit forceware

im told by my bro that he discribed it to some people and they said its my graphics card. i dont think so but i really have no idea. i let my bro use my computer and he played warcraft all the time and left the monitor on for hours, like 5 or more at a time, i dont know if thats the reason. anywayz a little help would be fantastic!!

Are your speakers near your monitor? They might be messing up with your monitor if they're not shielded.
