monitor issues

It's driving me up the wall.

If I leave my computer on 24-7 the monitor stays on, but when I go to sleep I like to shut it off so it isn't so bright in room, if I press the power button on the monitor itself, it does not turn back on. It always seems like its "shorting out" and i have to unplug every wire and press it 100 times before it works again

so instead ive been putting on a black blank screen saver because I cant turn it off because it takes forever to turn on. It clearly has power going to it and i fiddle with the wiring and shake it around but it does nothing. I literally have to unplug everything and shut off PC entirely, re boot just to get it to power on

wtf is up with this??

When you say, doesn't turn on, do you get a power light from the monitor itself, but no screen?
Can you press monitor buttons and get menu's up?

If so, it seems more likely to do with your video card, which leads me to my next question. What make/model is it? Is it a motherboard video chip? Or have you got a dedicated video card for gaming?
