Default mobo and video card HELP!!!

ok, my computer right now i have
amd64 3700+
ati 9800pro
msi k8mm-v
1gb pc3200 crucial ram
80gb hdd

my problem is i cant get my video card 9800pro to work, after i install the drivers, the computer shuts off or the screen turns to scattered color screen. Like i ask for help on the msi website they told me to turn up the voltage on the agp slot to like 1.7 or 1.8 but i dont know if its safe or it will fix the problem. Got any ideas what is wrong? and is it a good idea to raise the voltage to 1.7 or 1.8?

If that's what they told you to do, then try it out.

Sto being paranoid. If the company who made the product tells you to do it, THEN DO IT!!!
