MOBO for Tri Sli

What games do you play? It really depends on the game whether SLI/Crossfire scales well or not.

id stick with nvidia
every since ati and amd merged things have been bad....
id get a intel core 2 qaud and a 8800gtx gpu
thats a kick ass setup

The 8800GTX is an obsolete card now that the G92 8800GTS is out, The GTS gives similar performance but is more energy efficient and more overclockable.

yea i was going though the tests they did with some of the games.

i like playing fps. not too much rpgs or mmorps but i honestly would play anygame if it looked really nice. my preference though is fps

another question, can you get ddr3 with amd processors? because i have an amd now and back when it was new and top of the line i still couldnt get ddr2 ram i could only get ddr.

im torn between this processor

what do you guys think?

AMD motherboards do not support DDR3 memory at this moment in time. But that is no real disadvantage as DDR3 isn't any faster than DDR2 because of the FSB limits: http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/memory/display/ddr3.html

As for which processor to choose, If you want the Phenom, then wait for the B3 stepping 9850 X4 which will have higher clock speeds and will cost around the same as the Q6600. It should be out by mid-april As to whether to buy the Q6600 or a Phenom. There isn't much of a performance difference between the 9850 and the Core 2 Quad so it's just a personal preference.

Yes, but CrossfireX is far superieur to SLI. It scales a lot better and allows you to pair non-identical cards, such as a HD 3850 and a HD 3870. You can see a comparison of CrossfireX vs SLI here: http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/video/display/geforce9800-gx2.html

yeah but its supposed to be ATI (mostly) and just compare 4 3870 to 3 9800 GX2s lol :D :D :D its a big performance jump, im not saying crossfire is a bad motherboard for sli(crossfire i this case) its just better for midrange right now, if hes shooting for 3 sli he needs the 790is
