Mini laptops and converting files

Hi everyone,

I'm thinking of getting a mini laptop. Can anyone tell me anything about the Acer Aspire One? I really want something with good battery life that I can work on (mostly text files, some photos), come home and transfer files to my 'pc'. Good web connection too. I don't download much from the net but good visual would be good for video streaming (is it the graphics card I'm looking at here?), but not so important as the rest.

My concern with the Linux ones is whether I can convert the files to Word as that is what I am using on my pc and main laptop. Likewise if it is Windows but only has Works. Can I save file as a Word doc somehow (probably not) or put on a disc then when I open on my pc request it be converted to Word, or do I really need to get a mini with Word on it?

Thanks
