mineral oil cooled computer

edit: That's cool, I still doubt it works. I'd like to see it in person...but that's just me.
 
Yeah, I figured that far. Like I know it works, but for some reason I believe it doesn't. It's really weird...I still think something should go wrong when hardware is submerged in liquid....

I was thinking of trying it on a dodgey pentium III comp to see what it would be like but mineral oil is expensive and smells.
You can't put your DVD drive or HDD in the mineral oil because it will just fry because it needs to be spinning at such high revs that the mineral oil will slow it down too much. But it is a good idea for cooling, espicially when they hooked up a radiator to it to keep temperatures down
 
True but it's hard to get pure water and it's easier to get impurities in it or something rather. all i remember is it was a bad idea to use it.
