Default Might get new motherboard

I might get a new motherboard. Currrently I have the mobo listed below. SLI and all but only 8x. I have the computer in sig. I want SLI maybe, idk. I want to overclock because mine cant, can only change FSB, maybe a bios update would change that, but idk. I was thinking maybe one of the 650i motherboards. It needs to have onboard sound as I dont plan on buying a sound card. I was thinking maybe around $130 not more. Thanks

ASUS P5B Deluxe or Commando. DFI P965-S would be my first choice. These can run SLI but the second slot would be 4x only.

The one freestyler105 posted is a great board. But if you can't swing the $209.99, it's little brother, the ASUS P5N-E SLI LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 650i SLI would be another good choice.

The first was two expensive, but I thought maybe there was an asus open box one for $135. It was 650i, but had 3 pci EX slots for sli and a physics card. Think I might get that.

that board atomic linked is a decent board. great quality for the price. I'd be carefull with the open box board, it had to be returned for a reason.

If you want to overclock, a P965 would be your best bet for price to performance. As far as i know, the DFI P965-S has the best clock for clock performance out of all of the P965 motherboards. And this difference is noticeable.

Yeah the one atomic rooster posted is nice, but doesnt have a slot for a physics card. And sli is only 8x. But I think I agree about the open box one.

atomic, thats a decent board put out by ABIT, but by no means a monster board. I wouldn't get a 650i personally as nVidia's lower end offerings are lacking compared to the P965. But it's really up to and what you want. The way i see it is that if you have enough money for SLi, you have enough money to but a top of the line motherboard to go with it or else it's just a waste of money.

Well, I would get a card, and rather than buying one new expensive card, buy the same one again to run in SLI. Or is it not worth it for that? Better to just get an intel board for super OCing?

The only Intel board good for OCing is the D975BX2, or BadAxe 2. Mine was a great board, got it up to 425 FSB stable, until it died lol. If you go with a E6300/E6400, go with a 965 chipset, they can reach much higher FSB, which will help with the lower multipliers.

Yeah thats what I meant, but idk what too do. None of those boards have slots for physics cards correct? Idk if I should get 650i or one of those. How much will 650i's OC?

KK, should be the same I bet. Just one slot is in 8x or something. For not totally top of the line cards is 8x good?

What do you think? Cheap, no physics slot, but can I use the second SLI slot for physics instead if I wanted? Got good reviews too.

I have another question, I change my mobo, will I have to reinstall Vista and do a ton of other stuff? Or just remove the old and put in the new?
