Default Microsoft Office installation problem

Hi everyone,
I am new in this forum, firstly i'd like to say hello.
to the point, i got problem installing MS office(2000,xp,and 2003) to my PC, i am using XP pro. when i try to install it gives error message: "Error opening istallation log file. Verify that the specified log file location exist and it writeable"

is there any tips how to overcome this problem, coz of this i must use MS off 97 now.

if you can't install M$ office, why not give openoffice a try? www.openoffice.org

Try installing it on another comp.
If it gives you the same error, then the Cd is corrupted.
If it installs fine on the other comp, the problem is your Windows...

I would have said corrupt CD but if you've tried installing 2000, XP, and 2003......

try repairing your xp installation from the XP cd

is the intall CD the original or a burnt copy?

Thanks for the replies,
its a copy CD, but it works on other comp.(XP pro). i am affraid it is OS prob. i did tried to format my C drive and re instll Xp. it came out the some error eventhough in fresh install OS.
Is it possible that some part of the H/D has prob.
